Community Safety: Rotary Club of Alagbado champions peace, tranquility in community
Rotary Club of Alagbado, Rotary District 9110 Nigeria, on Saturday 17th February, 2018 celebrated World Peace and Understanding Month designated by Rotary international for Rotary Clubs worldwide to preach and ensure peaceful coexistence of residents and business owners in their respective communities. The event witnessed several stakeholders such as members and executives from CDAs, National Union of Road and Transportation Workers (NURTW), Motorcycle Operators in Alagbado, Youth Organizations and the Divisional Police Officer of Agbado Police Division, SP. Johnson Adesoji.
The Club President, Rotarian Olagunju Makanjuola hosted participants and Community Development Associations’ members at the one day seminar tagged “Peaceful Coexistence in the Community” where he urged members of Ifedara, Adusco, A. I. T, Ifeloju, Olaoluwa, Salem, Orile Ilapo, Oke-Ilo, Aduragbemi and other CDAs present to know their neighbors so has to peacefully coexist.
“I want you all to ensure you know your neighbors and most especially those you gave accommodation too so as to avoid lots of miscreant and other people that could cause social ills in the community”, Rotn. Makanjuola said.
The Divisional Police Officer of Agbado Police Division, SP. Johnson Adesoji who doubled as the guest speaker informed participants that the police are for the people and will protect members of the community always. In his address, he outlined several ways members of the community can live happily and further said, “If you obey the law of the land, then I am for you but if you did not am afraid”.
“I want all transport associations present to get full details of members and guarantors with other information that will be useful for security purpose so has to be able to trace and apprehend the bad eggs among them as this will aid crime combating in the society”, SP. Adesoji said.
Rotarian Jumoke Onilude another participants at the event who spoken on the impact of parenting in the community however admonished parents and guardians present to give proper trainings to their wards for the home to be peaceful as this will brings about relatively peacefully community. “Never for any reason leave the parenting role for the teachers or the school, she added.
Furthermore, The Chairman of the Joint CDA Mr. Sakiru Oguntola who lead the CDAs to the event appreciated Rotary Club of Alagbado for putting up such an elaborate event which will definitely bring a peacefully coexistence in the entire Agbado community.
