“Ojokoro Council boss, Hon. Hammed Idowu D. Tijani (HID) advises youths on the implication of electoral violence and other social ills that may negate the peaceful coexistence of the residents of the LCDA and further told them to embrace the empowerment programmes of the council for them to be useful and self reliant“
The Executive Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, Hon. Hammed Idowu D. Tijani has urged the youths of the council and its environs to shun electoral violence and every other social ills that may negates the peaceful coexistence of the constituents and the conduct of the forth coming elections.
Speaking at the seminar organised by the council in conjunction with ‘Save The Youth Initiative’ at the council area with the message Political Education for the Youth Against Electoral Violence and tagged : Lagos State Youth say no to youth involvement in electoral violence, the council boss Hon. HID Tijani implored the youth to desist from all forms of thuggery and embrace empowerment opportunities which are made available for all and sundry at the state and local government level.
“Opportunities are bound and the local government in our own capacity and available resources would continue to train and empower the people on trades of their choice”, Hon. HID Tijani said.
” Just last month, we empowered youths, women, men and also people with disabilities after we had trained them in their different vocations. We do not just stop at vocational training in Ojokoro LCDA but substantial empowerment where we equipped all our beneficiaries with the latest working tools for them to effectively start a business on their own and make profits”, HID concluded.
The Leader of Legislative Arm of the council, Hon. Abduolaziz Osho further urged youths to define their role in politics, have a core value so as not to be induced against their wish or being used for violence irrespective of the situation they find themselves.
Participants at the events were several youths across the wards of the LCDA, the president of the National Youth Council; Ojokoro Chapter, Comrade Olaniyi Ilori, secretary to the local government Hon. Samuel Onipede, and other Executive committee members, honourable councilors, management team,staff, men of the Nigerian Police force and other stakeholders.
