2017 Tree Planting Exercise: Ipaye urges Ojokoro residence to take proper care of trees

Friday 14th July, 2017 is the annual tree planting day and it is the 10th edition of the tree planting exercise in Lagos State. The event took place simultaneously at the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Area of the State.

The representative of the Governor, Hon. Muslim Folami (The Honorable Commissioner of Local Government Affairs) speaking at the event.

 

 

The Executive Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode speaking through his representative at the event in Ojokoro one of the LCDAs who took part actively at this year’s tree planting exercise Hon. Muslim Folami the Honorable Commissioner for Local Government Affairs said, “a total of 6,834,938 trees have been plated state wide and another 500,000 will be planted today”.

 

 

The Sole Administrator of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, Hon. Dr. Waleeh Adeleke Ipaye delivering his remark.

 

 

“We must remember that trees are essential to human existence and planting of trees is one of the cheapest and easiest ways to preserve mother earth and combat the ravaging effect of climate change”, he said.

 

 

Hon. Dr. Adeleke Ipaye, the Sole Administrator of Ojokoro LCDA further educated the public on planting of new trees and taking care of existing ones as it maintains a crucial balance in nature.

 

 

“Planting of tree which we all gather her to do is not as simple as it sounds, because without proper technique and care, a transplanted tree will die therefore communal efforts are needed for the survival and tending of these trees planted today, hence, the task of environmental protection is a universal responsibility of all of us”, Ipaye said.

 

 

In the same vein, he further reminded the residence, good people of Ojokoro and its environs to abide by all rules and regulations guiding the forthcoming local government elections, and urged them to exercise their civic right for dreams of a greater tomorrow shall be achieved.
