Olorunda LCDA council boss, Hon. Samson Folorunso Olatunde (SAMOLA). has condemned the Badagry multiple checkpoints in the council area and seek a permanent solution to the act as new DPO visits the council secretariat.
Samola highlights the reduction of crime rate as major task for the newly deployed DPO
Following the recent deployment of a new Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Badagry Police Division of the Nigeria Police Force, the newly deployed DPO yesterday, Friday 24th July, 2020, made an official visit to the council secretariat, Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Iworo to familiarize with the Council officials, led by the Council Mayor, Hon. Samson Folorunso Olatunde (SAMOLA).
During the brief meeting that ensued, the new DPO, SP Peters Gbesu appreciated the council boss for efforts exerted so far into securing the lives and property of his constituents.
Speaking further; he pleaded with the Council Mayor to provide additional support for men of the Police Force so as to ensure that Policing is improved within the axis.
In a brief address that followed, Hon. Saheed Bamgbose, the Vice-Chairman of the LCDA encouraged the new DPO to device strong means of identifying hiding holes of various unscrupulous elements in the division.
He said doing this effectively will promote the image and performance of the police in the division.
Also to address the sitting was the Secretary to the Local Council, Hon. Joseph Odu who identified the ridiculous number of checkpoints mounted by men of the Nigeria Police Force on the Badagry expressway as inconveniencing, needless and pain-inflicting on the people of Badagry.
He appealed to the DPO to use his good office to cub this unpleasant trend.
Delivering his address, the Council Mayor Hon. SAMOLA charged the DPO to ensure that crime is cubbed to the barest minimum.
“I appeal that you and your men should combat crime to the barest and most significant minimum as this will strongly ensure the security of lives and property in our cherished Local Government Area. One of the most important responsibilities we must perform as Government is the protection of lives and property”.
The council mayor identified multiple checkpoints mounted by men of the Police Force on the expressway as unbearable and undesirable.
He therefore charged the DPO to make a frantic effort towards the reduction of police checkpoints on Badagry expressway.
He prayed for the promotion of the newly deployed DPO and all his entourage.
Also in attendance were other members of the Executive and Legislative Arms of the Government of the LCDA as well as Special Assistants to the Council Chairman.
