Contrabands: Custom Service to prosecute Dangote drivers


Dangote Cement Ibese Plant handed over one of her drivers to the Nigerian Customs Service for loading contrabands as against the regular products of the company. Assistant General Manager in charge of security services for Dangote Cement Ibese Plant, Mr. Ali Garba confirmed that, the company had tracking device and surveillance operatives who monitor movement and activities of all trucks and drivers.


The interjection and arrest of the culprits came to being as a result of intelligence information received by Dangote Senior drivers on the movement and activity of one of their trucks, Dantrans truck with detail No. KMC 38 XR /ICT -13 A -083 driven by Ismaila Abubakar who has since been dismissed.


Findings shows that, the authentic driver of the truck, Nasiru H . Ahmed loaded bags of cement for Benin Depot on Friday 2nd June; he left the truck with his motor boys, Bashiru and Bilyaminu Abdullahi, and the dismissed Ismaila Abubakar at Kara Garage in Benin and travelled to Kaduna.  


The former and dismissed Ismaila drove the truck to Benin Deport for offloading after which he removed the tracking device on the vehicle, left it in Benin and drove the truck to Lagos where he loaded it with frozen turkey for N350,000 but N70 was deposited and balance to be paid on delivery.  


The truck was interjected in Ibadan while the drivers were handed over to The Nigerian Custom Service for proper investigations and prosecution.
