The truth is that most of our States that are yet to record any COVID-19 case or recorded lesser cases are not free of the spread.
It is important to state here that those States in question are not testing to know the status of their people.
More so, those with increased number of COVID-19 cases like Lagos and FCT, Abuja are the ones working round the clock to curtail the spread.
State of Osun, Ekiti, Ogun, Rivers and Ebonyi, Kaduna, Ondo States are not doing badly.
To be candid, COVID-19 is real and it’s still spreading as long as truckloads of foodstuffs, animals, eggs and other consumables are moving with 10-15 motor boys on each.
And with the level of compromise by our security operatives and agencies on our highways, some commuters and truck drivers are still struggling people into various States.
According to NCDC, we presently have about 15 testing laboratories in Nigeria.
Three in Lagos, one in Oyo, one in State of Osun, one in Edo state which Ondo state is also using.
The only one serving Southeast is situated in Abakaliki – Ebonyi state. Kaduna state has two already, two in FCT, Abuja.
While Kano has one.
Unfortunately, south south and southeast has only one testing laboratory each per region. While there are six in Southwest.
And there is one in the whole of Northeast. In Borno State.
The shocking aspect is that most of our States doesn’t have individual State COVID-19 call centres which are easy to set up. They relied more on NCDC National call centres which are overwhelming busy.
What an irony!
