COVID-19 CONTAINMENT: LAGOS STATE ENACT LAW

The Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu is doing everything humanly possible to ensure the pandemic coronavirus bedeviling Nigeria is combated and becomes a thing of the past in Lagos and the nation as a whole.

On Tuesday noon the state Governor shuts down all markets in Lagos except for the medical and food stores with effect from Thursday 26 March 2020.

The Governor in his address noted that the state understands the peculiarity of the citizen and the nature of people in the state and it will always consider that in all policies to be made.

”I do not need to pretend to the nature of the people when making laws and decision to prevent the spread of coronavirus among Lagosians and that is why we have to put a lot of considerations in place”, he said.

Our people do not have the facilities to stockpile food items in their various homes and that is why we are not going to shutdown food items, patent stores and markets that deal in hospital facilities and other equipment, he concluded.

The government further urged Lagosians and Nigerians to continue to observe social distancing and avoid social gatherings of more than 20 people to avoid the continuous spread of the virus.
