Peaceful coexistence of the people is the hallmark of good governance and the safety of all and sundry most especially from cultist, cultism, social vices and the likes should always be part of the plans for every responsive government. Research has shown that several terror groups across the world have been linked to cultism.
The Executive Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, Hon. Hammed Idowu D. Tijani (HID) has organized a sensitization programme on Eradication of Cultism Among Youths and Students for primary, secondary school students and youths of the LCDA and environs.
At the event, stakeholders in the community, Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps, President and members of National Youth Council, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence corps (NSCDC) members, men of Nigeria Police force, teachers, students, the community leaders, religious leaders, Community development association executives to mention but few were all present.
The programme facilitator, Dr. Michael Olufemi who did justice to the topic extensively; indentifies and educate participants on features of cult groups and various members attribute which will enable the students, youths, parents, guardian and members of the public to identify, take precautions and other safety measures towards these deadly sects.
Dr. Olufemi in his remarks identifies immoral dressing as a sign and signal of all cult groups and urged participants to desist from such style of dressing as this will make them appealing to cult members.
The Executive Chairman of the Ojokoro LCDA, Hon. Hammed Idowu Tijani (HID) on the other hand appreciated the Executive Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode for supporting and ensuring the continuous existence of the anti cultism seminar and made known that its one of the reasons the state has been relatively peaceful.
The council boss further encouraged all participants to be an ambassador of anti-cultism and urged all students present to go back to their various schools and educate their colleagues on what they have learnt at the insightful seminar. “I therefore charge you as our future to put in your best interest on your studies and positiveness because, your tomorrow depends on what you do today”, Hon. HID said.
In his closing remarks, he employed students to tell their parents to register and collect their PVCs and adult present to do same so as to continue to enjoy the unprecedented developmental strides of the Lagos state government.
“I charge everyone that is 18 years and above to visit the INEC centre in your various locations and collect Your Permanent Voters Card (PVC) if you have not, I want you all to encourage your parents who are yet to collect theirs to do so, so that next year by God’s grace we can all go and re-elect our dynamic and amiable governor Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode to once again steer the ship of our State of Excellence”, Hon. HID Tijani concluded.
The National Youth Council Leader, Ojokoro LCDA chapter, Com. Ilori appreciated the council executive members, legislators and management for deeming it fit to organized such event as this will prevent the youths and students from falling victim of these deadly groups.
