#ENDSARS Shop Looting: Ojokoro LG meet victims, promise aid

Hon. Hammed Idowu D. Tijani (H.I.D), the Executive Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, has met with traders, whose shops and stalls were looted and burnt by hoodlums at the late Chief Savage market at Fagba area during the #EndSARS protest in Lagos state.

During the meeting held at the Council Secretariat along Bola Tinubu Road, Ijaiye-Ojokoro on Monday, 26th October 2020; Hon. Tijani sympathized with the traders for the huge losses they suffered during the protest.

He said both the Lagos state and Ojokoro Local Council Development Area governments actually feel their pains and knows the agony they are passing through, as a result of the looting and burning of their shops and stalls by hoodlums at the market during the #EndSARS protest in the state.

The Council boss advised the traders to go back and prepare a comprehensive estimate of their losses and damages at the market, which should be submitted to the Council authorities for onward submission to the state government, for possible intervention and compensation.

Hon. Tijani described the looting and burning of shops and stalls at the market by the hoodlums as barbaric, fraudulent and very unfortunate.

He, however, advised the affected traders, who were more than thirty in number, to take the unfortunate incident with good faith and allow peace to reign in the market, as they continue to maintain peaceful coexistence of all tribes.

He also added that both governments at the State and Local levels will do everything possible to renovate the market and provide adequate security for lives and properties of the traders, to avoid future occurrence of the unfortunate incidence.

A minute silence was observed during the meeting in honour of those that lost their lives at the market during the protest.
