Members of the Ogun State Coordinate of All Progressives Congress Youth League (APCYL) have been advised to key into the various Agricultural Revolution initiatives of the Ogun State government.
Coordinator of the League, Comrade Olamide Lawal gave the advice during the monthly meeting of Local government Coordinators of the league, held in Abeokuta.
Comrade Lawal who explained that no government was capable of employing every unemployed youth into the civil service, encouraged the youths to be self-dependent by engaging in Agriculture.
According to Lawal, “No government can give everybody white-collar jobs, so, we need to go back to the farms in order to be self-sufficient”.
He called for further support for the present administration noting that Prince Dapo Abiodun’s Government was resolute on creating more opportunities for the youths in Ogun State.
“Government has a lot of ongoing Agricultural programmes that are tailored towards ensuring food sufficiency and we can benefit from them, as forms of empowerment. If we can key into this, we may not need any white-collar job again”.
“Among these initiatives are the anchor borrowers program, broiler projects, rice projects, palm oil among other ones”, Lawal concluded.
The Coordinator maintained that if agriculture is properly harnessed, it can boost the fortunes of an Individual especially in government’s quest to make Ogun State the food basket of the nation.
The meeting had a representative per local government in attendance with strict adherence to COVID-19 Containment guidelines as regards her usual manner of having meetings and this was contained in a statement made available to the newsmen by the APCYL state director of Media & Publicity, Adewale Adeleye.
