– As Conference 57 CPS members gear up for 2020 media retreat in Yaba

The association of Chief Press Secretaries {CPS} for Local Government Areas and Council Development Areas in Lagos State, on Thursday held a meeting at the secretariat of Ikorodu North LCDA, after the State regulations on social gathering over COVID-19 was raised from 20 to 50 participants.

The meeting which sparks-off an atmosphere of reliving memories of Pre- COVID-19 lockdown, witnessed 39 members of the group in attendance.

The reunion of media aides enabled members to discuss topical issues which included admission and introduction of new CPS, report from programs committee of the group, electoral discussions and media retreat for the year 2020.

According to the chairman of the grassroots media aides, CPS Oseni Owolabi Ajimomuya from Shomolu LGA, he said the physical meeting which was first in a long while was the perfect opportunity for the group to enhance their media capacity in the area of publicity for council chairmen administrative works.

“We must improve on our level of engagement as we push the image and administrative works of our Principals before the masses in the grassroots,” he began.

He added that a series of programs shall be organized as election year draws closer.

“We are planning on events that would accommodate activities of council chairmen across the state as the political campaign is around the corner,” he submitted.

The highlight of the gathering was the collective resolution by members on the need for the present executives to continue in their various capacities until after the election of new council chairmen across the LGAs’ and LCDAs’ in Lagos State by 2021.

Also, the media retreat committee was inaugurated by the chairman of the group, CPS Owolabi Ajimomuya. He charged the seven-man committee led by CPS Babatunde Ilyas from Odi-Olowo LCDA to make this year’s media retreat in Yaba, a successful event.

As tradition demands, members of Conference 57 CPS were received by the chief host and council chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Hon. Deola Banjo.

The amiable council mayor commended activities of the group. He urged grassroots media aides to remain diligent, loyal and committed in the discharge of their primary duties.

“I see council chairmen, commissioners and top government functionaries among you in the future; people would write for you too,” he added.
