Chairman Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, Apostle Oloruntoba Oke supported by Widows Care And Charity Organisation and Hopewell Initiatives, both Lagos based Non-governmental Organizations commenced a five-day training/ Empowerment for widows across the council area.
The training which began on Monday,17th -21st August 2020 at the NRC Building, Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way, was declared open by Oke represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Ibiyinka Thomas.
The Chairman praised the two NGOs for partnering with the Local Government to organise a youth Empowerment Program for 250 Youths with the Community Development Committee (CDC), Annual feed the Widows program and the fight against the spread of Covid-19 with the distributions of 3000 Nose Masks, Hand Sanitizer s and providing palliatives for vulnerable residents of the council area
The Founder of Hopewell Initiatives, Mrs Balkis Aiyepola and the Project Coordinator, Widows Care and Charity Organization, Mr Oni Olayinka James, counselled all participants to make the best use of the opportunity as the program is designed to equip and support them to live beyond Covid-19 economic crisis through training in the production of souvenir and Lunch bags production, Batik Making, Snacks among other things.
The high point was the allocation of participants into the three vocational training department for the introductory class which signalled the commencement of training with the mandatory prevention and control measures issued by the State Government on COVID19 which includes physical distancing, mandatory temperature checks and use of facemasks, personal hygiene and other things.
