The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu in a bid to stem the spread of the pandemic ravaging the world, Nigeria and Lagos is set to put the state on total lockdown.
The fight against the pandemic in the nation has been an enormous task for the nation most especially Lagos that is the pandemic centre of the COVID-19 Virus in Nigeria.
As of Saturday 9, May the number of confirmed cases has risen to 4151 tested positive cases, 128 death while 745 persons have recovered from different isolation centres in the nation and discharged. Nigeria has been on two different 14days total lockdown until the President, Muhammadu Buhari relaxed the total lockdown for people to fend for themselves while giving immediate lockdown for the Kano State.
In the Presidential broadcast, President Buhari ordered the relaxed lockdown to commence on Monday 4 May in FCT, Lagos and Ogun state.
The Governor of Lagos State in a bid to further contain the communal spread of the virus roll out a twelve (12) commandments that will guide and protect Lagosians as it adopts the relaxed lockdown but unfortunately, Lagosians flout the rules thereby exposing themselves to the contraction of the virus.
Mr. Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu has said the government is left with no choice of putting the state on total lockdown considering the ways Lagosians are going about the relaxed lockdown.
Mr Governor said this on his twitter handle that the state may be forced to total lockdown if Lagosians are determined to flout law and order.
“Despite the massive advocacy, it is disappointing to see the crowd in banks and markets across the state flouting the guidelines. We will be forced to take the painful decision of bringing the state under lockdown if it remains clear that Lagosians are determined to flout the rules”, Mr. Governor concluded.
He therefore warns Lagosians to obey the rules and regulation or stands to be on total lockdown where minimal restrictions will be absent.
