The Executive Chairman of Ijede Local Council Development Area, Alh. Salisu Fathiu Jimoh has dedicated the 2020 tree planting exercise to the COVID19 front liners in combat the spread of the COVID19 pandemic in Nigeria and most especially the health workers in Lagos State as the state remains the pandemic centre in Nigeria.
The true meaning of life is to plant trees under whose shade you do not expect to sit – Nelson Henderson. These words are so true of Alh. Salisu Fathiu Jimoh, the Executive Chairman of Ijede LCDA, whose administration remains committed to the “Green Lagos initiative” of Lagos state, as he has taken great pride and efforts in planting trees at different spots and location within the LCDA since his inception into office in 2017.
The saying, according to Lucy Larcom, he who plants a tree plants a hope. Is true to this year’s tree-planting campaign tagged; “TREE FOR LIFE ” as this year’s exercise is done in honour of all the COVID19 Front liner and Heroes whose sheer dedication, strength and compassion in risking their lives daily to keep us safe and give us hope for the COVID-19 free world.
The council Chair reiterated on the importance of trees within our society which is essential for life, and crucial factor to our existence, not only because they provide us with materials for tools and shelter, they also includes but not limited to, the provision of oxygen, water conservation, improvement in Air quality. Hence, according to him without tees, life cannot exist on earth.

Hon. Salisu admonished that we need trees now more than ever as our health, environment and safety depend on it, due to the world being gripped by COVID-19. Therefore, the chairman encouraged everyone to support this laudable initiative of the government of Lagos state by planting trees to ensure a greener and healthier environment.
The council boss further stressed on the need to adhere to the rules and guidelines of the prevention of Covid-19, which are the wearing of face mask, maintaining physical distance, use of sanitizer and constant handwashing with soap and water. Noting that this will contribute to the efforts of all COVID19 front liners contributions in the fight against the virus
Present at the occasion were the Executive Chairman, Hon Salisu Fatiu Jimoh, the Vice-Chairman also acting as the supervisor for the environment, Hon Motunrayo Gbadebo Alogba, the leader of the house, Hon Shitta Hakeem, the Council-Manager, Mrs S O Adebanji, all other members of the Legislative, the Supervisors, the Council treasurer, Mrs Ajayi, the Nulge Chairman, Comrade Alhaji Alagbe, the HOD Environment, Mrs Okeowo and the Management team.
