Melaye to quit National Assembly, Constituents begin process
The journey of return has begun for Senator Dino Melaye by his constituents in Kogi West Senatorial District, same way he got the people’s mandate during the 2015 general elections.
Reports from several polling units and local governments that produced the Amadu Bello University Alumni revealed the enthusiasm in the people who are tired with the modus operandi of Melaye.
The process commenced on Saturday 10th June, 2017 at Yagba West, Yagba East, Mopa Amuro, Ijumu, Kabba/Bunu, Lokoja and Koton Local Government Area (LGA) of the state. Hundreds of qualified, registered and accredited voters in 2015 came out to recall the senator.
Muhammad Danjuma, a youth leader in one of the communities said, “We gave Dino full support in 2015 because we love APC and President Buhari. But now, Dino got there and has been insulting the president. He has shown no respect to the party, no respect to the national leader, Bola Tinubu, and no respect to us. “He abandoned us after the election and has not bothered to see us since. We have made many attempts to reach him but he refused. We are tired of his arrogance.”
Similarly in Yagba West LGA where Mr. Korede another leader in the community characterized Senator Dino as a “garage guy”. He said, “He talks like a garage guy and our people are determined to recall him from that National Assembly. You can see the large crowd here. We sent signals to him but he has never been to this Yagba West. He nearly slapped Senator Remi Tinubu, wife of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. He must be recalled!”

The entire process was a public celebration in Iyara while Ward 08 Polling Unit in Yagba East recorded a sizeable turnout.
Aiyetoro Gbede in Ijumu LGA which is the exact polling unit that produced the Senator is not an exception while Odo Ape polling unit where we have the Market square presented hundreds of voters condemning Melaye, saying he has deserted his people and not fulfilled his electoral promises.
