Hon. Temitope Adewale Adedeji (JAH), the Lagos State House of Assembly Member representing Ifako-Ijaiye 01 has appreciated the role and responsibilities played by the men of Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC) of the local government at the recent Iju gas explosion.
Jah as fondly called said it is important to express gratitude and appreciate the LNSC for ensuring the people and the community are relatively safe during the recent gas explosion.
The legislator while speaking at the event tagged “Security and Welfare of Frontlines” which is to also commemorate the 60th Independence Day Celebration of Nigeria noted that the security of lives, properties and the wellbeing of the people is the responsibility of the government.

While appreciating the LNSC operatives most especially for being the first sets of personnel to be on the ground at the recent gas explosion in Iju, he specifically commended the three personnel who suffered severe injuries in the line of duties awhile praying for the quick recovery of the staff that is still in critical condition at the hospital.
“For these two staffs who are present here today, you will go home with fifty thousand naira (N50,000) each while the one at the hospital gets a hundred thousand naira. And all the LNSC Ifako-Ijaiye Corps members will go home with ten thousand naira (N10,000) each”.
“On behalf of Rtn. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, the speaker of the best house of Assembly in Nigeria and the sponsor of the bill that begot LNSC today, we will buy a new engine for your vehicle that needed repair”.
Hon. Adewale also seized the opportunity to donate three bicycles more to the LNSC as his birthday gift to the member representing Ifako-Ijaiye at the House of Representatives, Hon. James Adisa Owolabi who also clocks sixty as he was born same day Nigeria got her independence.
Hon. Owolabi further applauded the legislator for the kind gesture and also donated the sum of five hundred thousand naira (N500,000) cash which was released expressly to the corps to complement all that had earlier been given out.
He seeks more support for security personnel in the local government for the constituent to continue to enjoy the relative peace that is already existing in Ifako-Ijaiye.
The Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu ably represented by Engr. Olayinka commended Hon. Temitope for identifying one of the agenda of the state and picking interest in contributing to such in his constituency.
“If an assembly member to come up with such initiative and picking a sector is something that is encouraging and commendable. This is something that should be encouraged and that is why you are seeing me here today”, he said.
The governor further calls on other members on of the house to also follow suit as this will make the state apparatus to want to do more in the discharge of their duties to the people.
The event witnessed top dignitaries across the state and top All Progressive Congress (APC) members were present.
