As Nigeria commemorates her 60th Independence Anniversary on 1st October 2020, the Chairman, Ifako-Ijaiye Council Area of Lagos State, Apostle Oloruntoba Oke, has expressed his joy as other Nigerians, home and abroad for the country’s Diamond age celebration.

Oke, who described this year’s Independence Anniversary with equanimity amid global health concerns, COVID-19 Pandemic which has caused many deaths and, resulted in the low economic downturn, as well as social disruptions across Nigeria and the world over, urged “concerted prayers for the early defeat of the ravaging disease to enable people to return to their normal lives” saying “everyone should take personal responsibility to keep safe even as he further ‘advised residents to always adhere to the protocol on the contagious disease”.
He called on Nigeria’s leadership including political class across the board to eschew divisive tendencies as ethnic and religious chauvinism to attain the much sought enviable and great country envisioned by the nation’s founding fathers.
The Council Chief, further counselled youths in the council area to, as future leaders, key into various empowerment and skills acquisition programmes initiated by Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration in Lagos State and the local government under his leadership to better their lives instead of being perpetually dependent on anybody.
