OGUN LOCKDOWN: ACOMORAN seek members full compliance, warns against violations of COVID19 guidlines

Following the announcement by the Ogun State government that the weekend lockdown has been lifted, which allows for movements and commercial activities around the state on weekends, the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN), Ogun State chapter has urged commercial motorcycle operators in the state to continue to obey government directives in support of the unrelenting efforts to slow the advance of the COVID19 pandemic.

Aremo Agunbiade, the PRO of the Association made this known during a discussion with newsmen in Abeokuta, the State capital.

According to Aremo, the development will enable commercial motorcycle operators to earn more and meet up with pending personal and societal obligations, describing it as a welcome development.

He said, “The weekend lockdown has been lifted, however, it is not an indication that the pandemic has been defeated. All medical guidelines should be followed as given to prevent the spread of the pandemic.

“The government is making serious efforts to combat the spread of the pandemic, and it is our collective responsibility as citizens to support the efforts by obeying guidelines and directives.

“As an Association, we are committed to the welfare of our members, which is why we try to ensure that these guidelines are duly complied with through the use of our Joint Task Force”.

While advising members to take the guidelines seriously, he warned that the Association will not hesitate to punish members who violate them; adding that the safety of the society lies in the obedience of government directives.

He reminded members that only passengers with nose covers should be conveyed while using a nose cover as well and that just one passenger is allowed at a time.
