Ojokoro Launches Zero Tolerance to Refuse

The Executive Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, Hon. Hammed Idowu D Tijani (HID) has begun an environmental and cleaning exercise in the LCDA tagged “Operation: Ojokoro Zero Tolerance to Refuse”. The exercise is targeted at ensuring a cleaner, healthier and refuse free environment in the LCDA.

 

On Tuesday 8th August, the compactor visited Popoola, Ibrahim Street, Olukayode Street, Afuape Street (Old Anjuwon), Sule Akanni, Yomi Are Street and its environs in Ward A, Fagba area where huge refuse were carted away from streets, homes, business spots to mention but few.

 

Hon. Adeniji Segun Adekunle, councilor for Ward A who led the team of cleaners, environmental officers of the council and others to the streets and crannies of Fagba to cart away all dumped refuse where he told GOVTOROS that, “the programme is in line with Lagos State Government’s directive in maintaining a cleaner and healthier living in the state and the executive chairman of Ojokoro (HID) has follow suit and that is why the exercise is in place today”.

 

“Being closer to the people of this constituent, I had to select those streets because of the chunk of refuse in this area. “I cannot achieve this for my ward without the support of His Excellency, the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode and my able chairman HID”, Hon. Segun said.

 

“This is just the beginning of good governance and part of our plans of fulfilling our social contracts with the people of Ojokoro.  This is an ongoing process and it will be replicated in all the wards from Ward A to G,” he concluded.

 

The Leader of Ojokoro Legislatures, Hon. Abdulazeez Osho who also accompany Hon. Segun told GOVTOROS that, “soon A Cleaner Lagos Initiative will begin and we have started with this for the benefit of the people. In due time more compactors will be introduced to facilitate the process”, he said.

 

Fatima Adeolu, a member of the community and a benefactor expressed gratitude to the council and the initiator of the project.” I am very happy about this and with this we are so impressed”, she said.

 

Razaq Adeolu who also spoke with GOVTOROS said, “we never believed in government but these ones are doing the right thing and this kind gesture has really changed my view about the government of the day”, he said.
