In other to douce the effect of the lockdown order of the Federal Government of Nigeria to combat the spread of coronavirus, Hon. Owolabi Elijah Adele, the Executive Chairman of Apapa Local Government Area began the second phase of stimulus materials for the good people of Apapa.
In his message, he said it is important for the government to support the people at this trying time and that is the hallmark of his administration. Giving further details on the second phase of the palliative and how to cooperate organizations within the locality has been supportive in the fight against COVID-19 in the local government.
“I have decided to roll out the second batch of the council’s palliative, in the form of Stimulus food packages to the people of Apapa. We are giving 500 units of 10kg rice, vegetable oil, noodles among other essential food items donated by Julius Berger Nigeria Plc as well as N1.5million donation from Sifax Group”, he said.
According to Hon. Owolabi Elijah, the cash donation has been put to judicious use as the government used the financial support to procure more palliatives for the benefit of the good of Apapa. As at the time of reporting 3000 packs of stimulus materials are already available.
Appreciating cooperate partners for their support on behalf of the people he said, “I commend the magnanimity of these corporate organization for partnering with the government as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to alleviate the sufferings of the poorest of the poor and vulnerable groups in Apapa occasioned by the struggle and fight against COVID-19 pandemic. We look forward to receiving more relief materials for this purpose from others”.
The second batch of the food relief packages commenced on Thursday 23rd and ends on Friday 24th, April 2020 cutting across the vulnerable members in the society, Youths, traditional rulers, religious leaders, including members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), League of Imams and Alfas and other members of the public who were seriously in need of the packages.
While thanking the Executives members, Management and staff of Apapa Local Government, Hon. Owolabi prayed that the Lagos and Nigeria at large will never witness this kind of pandemic again as he prayed for the constituents. “I continually wish you and your loved ones and colleagues safe passage through these difficult times. Please take care, stay positive, and find some time for having fun and smiling, it’s a challenge being on a lockdown”, he said.
