October 24 has been set aside to commemorate Polio Virus world wide. The presence of this virus polio in the body of growing children most especially in Africa has resulted in deficiency in growth. Polio virus in most cases survives in dirty environment and areas with poor sanitation. Rotary Internation has been the major sponsor and donor towards eradicating this virus world wide while Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria still record cases of poliomyelitis.
In a bid to end polio in Nigeria, President and Members of Rotaract Club of Alagbado in District 9110 Nigeria on Tuesday 24th October went all out to contribute their quota the the success of “End Polio Now” Rotary Campaign and the has club erected a polio signage at Meiran Primary Health Centre in Agbado Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area in Lagos to educate the pubic and sensitize them on the effect and need to collectively combat the virus.
The Club President, Rotaractor Mustopha Olajumoke Rahbiat (PHF) told GOVTOROS that the club has been involved in the Polio Project with the health centre since 2008 when Rotary asked us to Make Dreams Real and its been a continuous practise due to the importance the initiator has for the health and healthy living of human race.

“Its so sad that Nigeria is still battling with polio but if all hand is on deck and our people cooperate with health workers during NIPDS and other programmes targeted at erradicating polio, Nigeria will definitely be polio free”, Olajumoke said.
Mr. Popoola, a community member said the club has done a very big favour for the community and he noted that it will go along way for the nursing mothers who come to the hospital for clinic.
The project has in attendance past presidents of the club, members of the sister club, Rotaract Club of Otta, District Rotaract Representative Elect, Rotaractor Fadairo Oluwamiyiwa and community members in attendance.
