President Muhammadu Buhari will be addressing the nation on Friday June 12 , 2020 to commemorate the democracy day in Nigeria.
The democracy day of Nigeria used to be May 29 which was the handover day right from 1999 till date as the president altered the calendar to honour Late Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola (MKO) whose election was annulled by the then military rule.
In a bid to celebrate the democracy day, the president shall be addressing the nation on the state of the democracy, COVID19 and other challenges.
In a statement made available by the president’s special adviser Garba Sheu.
He said: “To commemorate Nigeria’s Democracy Day, President Muhammadu Buhari will broadcast to the nation on Friday, June 12, 2020 at 7am”.
Having said this, the presidency further call on radio and television, other media practitioners to tune to NTA for the broadcast so as to have access to live update from the presidency.
“Television and radio stations as well as other electronic media outlets are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority and Radio Nigeria respectively for the broadcast”, he said.
