The President, Rotn. Aderibigbe Temitope Samuel and members of Rotary Club of Alagbado has participated in the 2019 kick out polio programmes and projects. This is to ensure Nigeria is certified polio free by World Health Organization (WHO). It will be recalled that W.H.O had said Nigeria will be declared Polio free as soon as the country did not report any case of polio for a certain period of time thus all stakeholders putting tireless effort to making this a reality.
The polio walk, sensitization and enlightenment campaign took place at Kollington area of Agbado-Oke LCDA in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State with robust support and cooperation from traders, market women and men, transport operators and more. The long polio walk which is targeted at eradicating the dreaded disease in Nigeria and the whole wide world at large was gladly welcomed by the community members and residence in Alagbado community.
Speaking with GOVTOROS, the president of Rotary Club of Alagbado, Rotarian Aderibigbe Temitope Samuel said that, Rotary has been one of the major sponsor of polio programmes and vaccination across the globe and it is important to see the end of it.
“Today we are kicking out this polio finally out of our country Nigeria and we want to ensure that Nigeria is certified Polio free because seeing Nigeria’s name out of the polio endemic country is our goal and we shall not stop until this is achieved”, he said.
He further made known that the club had embarked on several projects towards making life a better place for all such as, tree planting at Benefactor Avenue on AIT Road, Free Screening on Hepatitis B & C, personal development to mention but fee.
While speaking on the next project of the club, Rotary Family Health Week specially organized by Rotary District 9110 which is aimed at giving free medical attention to members of the public which will be taking place at Kola Primary Health Centre in Ojokoro LCDA for 1st and 2nd of November 2019.
“Let me use this opportunity to call the general public to be part of our Rotary Family Health Week which will be taking place at Ojokoro LCDA and it is going to be health delivery at its peak”, he concluded.
