The Chairman of Surulere Local Government, Hon. Tajudeen Ajide has presented an estimate of Two Billion Eight Hundred and Forty – One Million Naira (#2, 841,000,000:00) to the Legislative Arm of the Council for consideration and passage as Appropriation for the 2021 fiscal YEAR. The ceremony was held on thursday, 4th of February, 2021 at the Council Chamber.
The budget christened Budget of Economic Recovery was aimed at building back the business community by providing enabling environment, recovery of the revenue targets and bringing into the net the untapped revenue, so that more developmental projects can be provided before the end of the Administration.
Ajide said, ‘being the last budget of this administration, the budget has been carefully crafted to suit the purpose of providing more developmental projects in other to bridge the gap of economic shortfall of last year caused by the Corona Virus pandemic which affected all strata of the economy leading to lost of lifes, businesses and revenue that would have helped to provide such projects. “
The sum of One Billion Eight Hundred and Eighty Two Million Naira(#1,882,000,000) is earmarked for recurrent expenditure while Nine Hundred and Fifty Nine (#959,000,000) is meant for Capital expenditure amongst other provisions.
Responding, the Leader of Council, Hon. Mrs Barakat Bakare Akande, appreciated the early presentation of the proposed budget and promised, on behalf of other members, that equally,there will be early passage of the budget.
Relevant members of the Executive committee and few Management members accompanied the Chairman to the brief ceremony.
