In his effort towards curtailing the spread of Coronavirus in Ifako-Ijaiye Council area of Lagos State, the Executive Chairman, Ifako-Ijaiye LGA, Apostle Oloruntoba Oke has mandated the compulsory use of Face Masks in the Local Government.
This is in line with the Directive of the State Government towards preventing the spread of the pandemic.
The Oke led administration is not resting on its oars at ensuring that a stop is put to the spread of COVID-19 pandemic as he launched “MASK UP IFAKO- IJAIYE “ Initiative today, Thursday21 May 2020 with three new branded buses for the campaign and distribution of flyers and stickers to the residents in the council area.
Oke said, “ It is imperative as a government to help residents of Ifako-Ijaiye feel safe and stay safe as they go back to work or their businesses after the partial ease of lockdown, towards this, the local government has adopted the compulsory wearing of Face Masks in public places in line with the state government policy aimed at reducing the spread of coronavirus”.
The Masks, Banners, Stickers and flyers were given to all the stakeholders in the council area namely: CDC, Youths, Elders, Political Groups, Organized Private sector and council staffs in the first phase of the distribution with branded buses for further enlightenment.
The Councill boss charged all the stakeholders to begin to sensitize and create more awareness to the public through the sharing and dissemination of information on the flyers and stickers on preventive measures to curtail the pandemic.
He said,” We need to intensify more efforts and energy on the importance of handwashing with soap and use of alcohol-based sanitizer, social and physical distancing and personal cum Environmental hygiene”.
He also reassured the good people of Ifako-Ijaiye that his administration will further strive to reinvigorate all activities aimed at curtailing the spread of the epidemics across the council area and Lagos State as a whole.
The Council Boss recalled that his administration has been at the forefront in tackling the scourge and mitigating its inherent socio-economic challenges as well as other issues through the provision of the emergency food package to residents, Cash transfer palliative to staffs, partnerships with various organizations in administering a whole lot of palliatives to residents and Decontamination and Disinfection exercises of all public spaces and utilities which are part of the efforts geared toward cushioning its effects on the vulnerable, needy, widow, elderly and the youths.
