The Executive Chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Hammed Idowu D. Tijani (HID) has commended the efforts the Lagos state governor for the sustainability of the annual tree planting exercise in the state.
HID Tijani speaking at the LCDA’s annual tree-planting exercise which took place at the Gbadabiabiu area of the council where trees were planted and the entire event recorded very low turnout as the council organized the event in-line with the government directives to further contain the spread of COVID-19.
“Permit me to commend our ever proactive and visionary Mr Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for sustaining the legacy bequeathed to Lagosians by our former governor, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), who had declared July 14, every year as Tree Planting Day”, HID said.
The council boss has further emphasized the importance of tree planting to mankind noting that Trees are indispensable for life, as man cannot live without them.
He further urged constituents to always protect and preserve every tree planted in their environment, for the benefits of mankind, considering the usefulness and importance of trees.
On the flip side, Hon. Tijani again called on all and sundry to obey all the rules and regulations of the government towards containing the spread of COVID-19 pandemic as the country is now at the peak of communal transmission because the virus is now spread among friends and loved ones.
“Permit me to use this unique opportunity to remind us all, the need to obey all the rules given by the government to contain the spread of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic”, he concluded.
