An Ondo State Magistrates’ Courte sitting in Akure remanded in police custody two persons in possession of human heads on Wednesday.
The persons were arraigned on three counts of indecently tampering with a corpse, unlawful possession and conspiracy. The Criminal Laws of Ondo State, 2006 made it clear under section 242, 329 and 516 states clear that on the charges as it contravenes the law.
The defendants Abel Olomofe and Adewale Abiodun works at a cemetery of the South Local Government Area were arrested by the police for allegedly exhuming corpses and cutting off their heads at a cemetery on the Imafon Road, Akure
Jide Agboola and Femi Adetoye are pleading with the court to admit them to bail as the court seems not to grant bail on the count charges.
Inspector Uloh Goodluck, the police prosecutor is praying and wishing the court to permits him to forward the case file to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice. He is of the opinion that the defendants face the music if found wanting.
In the ruling of the Magistrate, Tope Aladejana has said that the bail application was yet mature and ordered the prosecutor to send the case file to the DPP’s office for legal advice, after which the application might be considered on the human heads case.
